I looked around youtube and found some Kris Allen videos I found interesting. One was a church performance while the other is an interview...







Entertainment Weekly, which gives more in depth Idol coverage than anywhere else on the web, continues to harbor a deep, deep crush on Allen.

It would be easy to dismiss Kris as ''a tender puppy,'' the way Simon jokingly did while trying to riff on Randy's oddly insistent dubbing of the dreamy troubadour as a ''tender dawg.'' I mean, with those dark and limpid pools of his, and that eager-to-please disposition, Kris is only a cool, damp nose and a wagging tail away from setting up shop in the window of your local pet store. But while it's true that the guy has heartthrob potential — anyone else observe how infuriatingly flawless his skin is, even under the unforgiving microscope of high-def TV? — the true beauty of Kris's performance had nothing to do with his physical attributes.

Instead, it was the gutsy vocal restraint Kris displayed on ''To Make You Feel My Love'' that won me over. And yes, I did say gutsy. Because when it comes to Idol — and what the judges and the show's voters often respond to — bombast all too often trumps vulnerability. And yet Kris didn't oversing a single note of the ''Garth Brooks'' number (*known as a Bob Dylan tune, at least in my house), choosing instead to finesse certain words of the verse down to a whisper, and refusing to indulge in the time-honored tradition of making eye-love to the Idol cameras.

Kris Allen sings "To Make You Feel My Love"

Kris Allen sang his version of Garth Brooks' "To Make You Feel My Love" last night on American Idol. It was a different Kris Allen we saw last night. What we saw was a more serious Kris Allen far from the Kris Allen we thought we knew. He is still adorable and cute when he sings.... look at him...

I dunno about you guys but isn't he more cute whenever he does those weird cute lovely facial expressions? Going back to singing, his performance last night made him work out of his comfort zone and he did an astounding job doing it. So there's no doubt he will stay and if ever America goes crazy and ousts him out, I'm pretty darn sure that the judges will save him
(Even Simon can't help falling in love with him...).

Paula was “pleasantly surprised.” Says it was an honest, pure, and vulnerable performance and a smart song choice.

Simon says it was terrific and that it’s the first time he’s heard Kris sing and thought that he could actually win the competition. .

Randy says, “Wow, tender moments from my dawg Kris. He’s a tender dawg.”

The judges definitely gave Kris some love and I do too...

1. Born June 21st, 1985

2. Grew up in Jacksonville, Arkansas but now lives in Conway

3. Attended College Station Elementary, Fuller Junior High, and Mills University Studies High School as a student in the gifted and talented program

4. Leads worship at New Life Churches in Central Arkansas and is a member of Chi Alpha at the University of Central Arkansas

5. Missionary work in the following countries: Morocco, Spain, Mozambique, South Africa, Thailand, and Burma

6. Can play a variety of instruments, including the guitar, piano, viola, and ukulele

7. Started playing the viola in 4th grade, became All-State in high school and received opportunities to play in college orchestras, but declined

8. Fan of the Packers and the Braves, and even played varsity baseball throughout high school

9. Married to Katy Allen, a former homecoming queen at the University of Arkansas


10. Kris is a business major at the UCA

11. One sibling, Daniel, a cheerleader UCA (Daniel is younger...and can also sing)

13. Has one less rib that had to be surgically removed in junior high(he had some sort of cyst develop on the rib that they thought might become a problem. It was like ten years ago when he flipped over the front handle bars of a bike and rupture his spleen and the rib thing might have resulted from it.)

14. He almost died in a hut in the mountains in Morocco. Got REALLY sick, like deathbed sick and lost a bunch of weight. It's some form of hepatitis and something else. It altered his body in a lot of ways and he has to watch what he eats somewhat because of it.
