Kris Allen is definitely a strong contender on American idol's season 8. His performance during the semifinals was definitely astounding. Here's what the judges have to say:

Kara: The back half was way better than the front, but still not close to Hollywood week. Wrong song.
Paula: Disagree completely. Showed personality. Nailed it.
Simon: Not the best singer in the competition but showed confidence and personality. May have put yourself back in the running.

For me, I agree with Simon. He had some nerves issues but the overall performance was really good. He was not forgettable, he definitely was not boring, and of course, he is cute. I think he made a large fan base composed of young girls (and guys.. )
